Ballymartin House
The brief comprised of a contemporary home in the countryside, just outside Templepatrick, with stunning views over the local landscape. Formed around a semi-enclosed entrance courtyard to provide a south facing partially sheltered outside garden 'room', the massing of this 1.5 storey dwelling houses fantastic living accommodation. It boasts a great master bedroom suite and gallery mezzanine taking advantage of interior views into living space below, and externally to the landscape beyond. A palette of natural materials including larch sheeting, natural stone and slate complement the white render of the exterior to situate the house in the natural landscape, whilst giving a nod back to the traditional vernacular forms and materials of the past, all the while remaining a thoroughly contemporary addition to the built environment in the local countryside.
